ANNOUNCEMENT: CAT COORDINATOR NEEDED!
WAG is searching for a Volunteer CAT COORDINATOR in VA/MD/DC area.
Although some wonderful USA-based cat rescues are helping to alleviate the heavy cat burden from the Kuwait BFG Team, they are still overloaded with more than NINETY cats. The rescuers are overwhelmed. The cats are spread throughout the apartments and homes of all our selfless friends in Kuwait who are helping them - in various kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms - and we need to begin finding them homes. Thus far, WAG is only equipped to take in dogs. Recently we decided not to take a lovely group of cats that had homes lined up, because logistically, we couldn't finalize a plan. From cat allergies to no backup plan should a home not work out... we just weren't ready. BUT WE WANT TO BE!
WAG is a totally volunteer group of rescuers and we are looking for the perfect volunteer who would commit to being a Cat Coordinator. What would this entail?
1. Picking up cats from the airport or coordinating a team for this.
2. Maintaining a good relationship with a reasonably priced vet, and vetting all cats upon arrival (WAG covers costs, obviously)
3. Fostering cats until they are placed in more permanent foster or adoptive homes.
4. Being prepared to take back and temporarily house cats that have been returned from fosters or adopters.
5. Coordinating a volunteer team to do home-visits for potential adopters.
6. Creating and publishing adoption posts on our page.
