Ready for Adoption: Austin!

Austin is possibly a Papillion or Papillon mix breed of dog found abandoned in the desert over a year ago. He is very shy and afraid of hands, perhaps indicating he had been hurt by humans in the past.

However, since being fostered in a home for the first time just 2 weeks ago, he demonstrates his love in other ways. He is very obedient and upon reconnection with his human, he gets very excited and emotional, squeaking and wagging his tail. It is clear he does want to be part of your pack. Foster mom says, “Sometimes I think the day has come for him to let me pet him, but not yet. That said, he wants to sleep on the floor by my bed and follows me everywhere. His eyes are full of love. He is really sweet with the other dogs in the house and is learning to accept the cats. As I say, he is eager to please and wants to be an obedient boy, so he tries really hard not to chase those cats. I think one day he will allow the right person to pet him and he won’t look back.”

Austin is about 2 y/o. He is microchipped, up to date on shots, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500. Home visit and reference checks apply for fostering/adoption. Available for adoption in the MD/DC area.

  1. Austin is doing so well in his foster home ❤️ He gives more love than any other dog I’ve fostered. He is a loving, Velcro dog. He chooses one person and isn’t really bothered about the other humans in his pack. Austin is good with other dogs, although I think he would prefer to be the one and only for someone as devoted to him as he will be to them. Lives with cats and is generally respectful. Lives with children but is still nervous of them, we are slowly building trust. A real people pleaser, training with his beloved should be easy. Lucky future adopter!
