Ready for Adoption: Zuza!

Ms. Zuza was kicked to the curb and tossed in the streets of Kuwait! When the Kuwait rescuers found her, she was all skin and bones! Most likely tossed because of her condition.

Zuza is slowly gaining weight. We suspect that she has Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI) judging from her stool, energy level, and lack of weight! A TLI bloodwork Test needs to be done to confirm if it is indeed EPI. The test costs about $300 in Kuwait and takes several weeks for the results to return.

In the meantime, Zuza is being treated symptomatically and she gets digestive enzymes with each of her meal so that she can absorb the nutrients from the food she is eating in order to gain weight. She is also taking the B12 with Intrinsic Factor supplement for weight and energy gain! She gained 1 kg (2.2 pounds last week and her stool is now more formed, so the enzymes are helping!)

Zuza is a lovely terrier girl who is very sweet and wants your affection. Her playful personality shines through daily as she gains more energy and feels more alive.

EPI is a lifelong condition that is manageable with digestive enzymes (does not need prescription; here in the US, we can use EnzymeDiane or Pantenex).

Please share Zuza’s post in the hopes of finding her forever home soon here in MD/VA/DC region.

Zuza will come microchipped and vaccinated. She is not spayed yet and will only get spayed when she is of appropriate and healthy weight as per vet recommendation. Zuza’s adoption fee is $500. Home visit and reference checks apply for fostering and adoption.

    1. Oh! Yes she does. She lives with other small dogs at Sarah’s house in Kuwait :) I don’t think they have tried large dogs.
